Map of Panama 1930

This beautifully colored pictorial map of Panama was hand drawn by B. Ashburton Tripp and is considered as one of his most elaborate and beautiful work. For unknown reason, Tripp never published the map but offered it for sale in 1931 at the annual May Show at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tripp had a special interest in Panama and his wife, Gertrude Koehne Tripp, was a former school teacher in the Canal Zone. The map presents points of interests, portraits of explorers, and a ring of zoomorphic figures of Indian Deities.
