California Beaches Poster, circa 1920
This travel poster was designed by Maurice Logan and produced by Southern Pacific. Created during the prosperous 1920s, this poster depicts a young woman in a bathing cap and figure- hugging tank swimsuit basking in the California sunshine. In this advertisement, Southern Pacific was selling its most important destination: Southern California. With the newly opened Panama Canal dominating commercial shipping, railroads increasingly relied on vacation travelers. Logan, an influential teacher and watercolorist, lived in Northern California most of his life.
Our Vintage Art Posters are printed on archival Epson Enhanced Matte Paper which includes a 1/8 inch white border.
