Coronelli’s Idea of the Universe’ - 1690
Magnificent celestial chart representing the major astronomical and astrological theories from classical times to the end of the 17th century. The central image is a large celestial planisphere incorporating the rotations of the planets and signs of the zodiac, surrounded by four blowing windheads and five planetary diagrams.
Surrounding the large central image is a border containing 28 smaller circular diagrams offering further data and reference material including a perpetual calendar, the zodiac, the theories of eclipses and a cross-section of the Earth showing the various circles of Hell according to Dante's Divine Comedy.
Our reproductions are carefully restored by hand, with care and respect for the original craftsmanship. This piece is printed in our downtown Los Angeles studio using our 12 color Canon Pro 4100 large format printer on 280g Heavyweight Sunset Photo Matte Paper and they are made with a 1/8 inch white border.
