Russian Celestial Map 1909
This 1909 Russian celestial map depicts the constellations and the Milky Way as seen from both the Northern and the Southern hemispheres. A comparative chart shows the size of the planets in relation to the sun. More cosmological information are presented, such as the phases of the moon, the explanation of the seasons, and the orbits of various celestial objects. It's worth noting that the text is written in the old Cyrillic alphabet of prior 1918. This map is one of my favorite, not only for its subject matter and originality, but for its strikingly beautiful vintage colors.

This piece is printed in our downtown Los Angeles studio using our 12 color Canon Pro 4100 large format printer on 280g Heavyweight Sunset Photo Matte Paper and they are made with a 1/8 inch white border.
